Fun Healthy Snacks for "Kids & Kids at Heart”

Frutro was founded by Randy Trau, whose lifelong career in the international food industry is matched only by his passion for helping others. Beyond food, Randy has dedicated years to supporting schools and places of worship, inspiring what he calls “Kids and Kids at Heart.”

In 2015, Randy combined his two passions (food and community) to launch the Frutro Brand. Through his company, International Food Specialists (IFS), he traveled to Costa Rica, a country celebrated for its tropical abundance and healthy lifestyle. There, alongside Henry Chou’s company, Valle Metropolitano, Randy developed a formula for snacks that deliver joy, wellness, and a healthier alternative to traditional treats.

From the start, Randy made it a priority to eliminate unhealthy ingredients such as high-fructose corn syrup, artificial preservatives, and animal by-products. Instead, Frutro products are crafted with natural ingredients, including seaweed extract (a renewable, sustainable resource), real sugar, and no artificial preservatives, offering snacks that are fun, healthy, and accessible to all.

The first product, Frutro Jelly Snack Cups, quickly set the tone for the brand: delicious, vegan-friendly, gluten-free, and made with just 5 grams of real sugar. And this is just the beginning. New Frutro products are on the way, continuing our mission of creating fun, healthy snacks for Kids & Kids at Heart.

Our Facilities

Frutro brand products are proudly manufactured in Costa Rica, exclusively for International Food Specialists (IFS), in a state-of-the-art production facility designed to meet the highest international food safety standards.

Our facilities combine modern technology with strict quality control systems, ensuring that every snack we produce is consistent, safe, and delicious. From the moment ingredients arrive, they undergo careful washing, preparation, and processing using advanced equipment that maximizes freshness while maintaining the integrity of natural flavors.

To guarantee safety and consistency, our facility is audited by independent third parties and certified to meet or exceed all FDA requirements as well as the FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) standards. These certifications reflect our commitment not only to compliance, but to exceeding industry expectations.

Throughout production, our team conducts onsite laboratory testing at every stage from raw ingredients to finished products. This rigorous testing ensures that every cup that leaves our facility upholds the Frutro promise of quality, safety, and taste.

Beyond compliance, we place strong emphasis on sustainability and care. Many of our ingredients, such as seaweed extract, are renewable resources, and our production process is continuously optimized to reduce waste and protect the environment.
